Automation Anywhere today released details of new generative AI functionality designed to accelerate productivity and elevate its existing Automation Success Platform.

The new Automation + Generative AI introduces generative AI capabilities into Automation Anywhere’s flagship platform, which utilizes intelligent automation tools and applications to streamline processes in every department and for every sector.

Which companies are the most important vendors in AI and hyperautomation? Check out the Acceleration Economy AI/Hyperautomation Top 10 Shortlist.

Mike Micucci, Automation Anywhere’s Chief Operating Officer told Acceleration Economy more about the new technology and how it will impact customers by “supercharging automation.”

“In the past, automation has always been in the background,” Micucci said. “With Automation + Generative AI, automation is right there, in the applications people are working in.”

Automation Anywhere is on our Top 10 Shortlist of AI/Hyperautomation enablers.

Productivity Booster

Introducing generative AI to its existing product suite will enable Automation Anywhere to help customers take productivity to the next step, making it more democratic, easier to achieve, and more prolific. Automation + Generative AI incorporates three core innovations:

  • With Automation Co-Pilot + Generative AI for Business Users powered by GPT, regular business users can use natural language to request automations, as well as create and summarize insights inside their chosen applications. The technology is the next generation of Automation Anywhere’s automation assistant.
  • Using Automation Co-Pilot + Generative AI for Automators, anyone in the business can use Automation Anywhere’s generative AI functions to build automations through natural language prompts without the requirement for code.
  • Document processing is expedited and simplified with unstructured documents formatted inside workflows with Document Automation + Generative AI.

During our conversation with Micucci, we were given the opportunity to see Automation + Generative AI in action. In a short demo, Micucci showed how, through a handful of natural language prompts, a user could create an automation that could pull out auto parts descriptions and pricing info from a PDF and highlight the best prices.

This was just one use case, but the possibilities for automation using the new Automation Anywhere functionality are only inhibited by the imagination of the user.

Responsible AI

Automation Anywhere is committed to responsible AI. As such, Automation + Generative AI has been developed with security and compliance as a core requirement. In practice, this means there are limits to what users can do, with specific boundaries to prohibit misuse and exploitation alongside native data privacy provisions. Beyond this, users can opt-in for human-generated feedback and management.

The launch of Automation + Generative AI capitalizes on extended partnerships with Google Cloud and AWS. Automation Anywhere is utilizing Google Cloud Large Language Models (LLMs) via Vertex AI and, from the AWS side, Amazon SageMaker Jumpstart, Amazon Bedrock, and other AWS AI/ML services to power its generative AI functionality.

Automation + Generative AI enables users to connect to any public or private LLM thanks to open architecture and is, in essence, a layer that allows users to operationalize generative AI securely. Ultimately, users can operationalize the LLM they are most comfortable with and from a company they have an existing relationship with, which will often be a hyperscaler such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Microsoft.

Automation Co-Pilot + Generative AI for Business Users is generally available now, while Automation Anywhere will release Automation Co-Pilot + Generative AI for Automators in preview mode in July. Users can take advantage of Document Automation + Generative AI in Q3.
