Established in 1221, the historic Santa Maria Novella is located in Florence, Italy. This makes it one of the oldest pharmacies in the world. The pharmacy has been working with the public since 1612. Now, it offers cosmetics, candles, fragrances, and luxury beauty products. Their customer base typically consists of world leaders, royalty, and celebrities. Santa Maria Novella also has numerous store locations across the world.
Challenge of Managing Multiple Stores in the US
The American branch of Santa Maria Novella was reacquiring five stores. These locations in the United States were independently owned. Cosimo Fabroni is the Chief Operating Officer at Santa Maria Novella. He was in charge of finding a software solution to streamline management for these pharmacy locations.
At the main headquarters in Italy, they were already using disparate systems for back office and POS operations. While this system was adequate, Fabroni looked for an end-to-end solution to enhance inventory management across multiple stores.
He was also searching for a system that would keep up with the demands of a fast-growing business. The system would have to serve a vast retail network and operations across the globe. For example, the system needed to track financial information for different currencies. Additionally, it would have to manage financing procedures to report information back to the head office in Europe.
Using the same procedures for all of the stores was a top priority. Fabroni decided to implement the same system in all of the United States locations. Streamlining this system is critical in improving efficiency and minimizing errors. It would also save a lot of time and money.
The Technology Solution
Fabroni decided to partner with ArcherPoint. They helped in determining the best way to replace the existing ERP systems for each store. For a true end-to-end solution, the ArcherPoint team recommended using LS Nav for managing back office and POS operations.
ArcherPoint played a crucial role in designing and implementing a software solution with omnichannel functions built on LS Nav. It was also integrated with third-party applications. For example, these third-party apps included Lanham and ChargeLogic.
The features of this software enabled a sales rep to view real-time inventory, place orders, and receive a credit card payment with secure processing from a mobile device. All of this information is automatically transferred into NAV. The warehouse gets an immediate notification to ship the order.
The e-commerce site can quickly receive payments and orders that flow into NAV. Wholesale support is also available for businesses in the United States.
ArcherPoint coordinated between the Italy and US headquarters. The system went live for four of the stores in less than thirty days. This included setup and training. The fifth store was also added shortly after the other stores.
The Final Results of the Historic Pharmacy
The Santa Maria Novella pharmacy experienced an immediate return on investment. Clients can easily make purchases online, with a mobile device, or in the store, for a truly omnichannel experience. Fewer mistakes occurred during inventory management. Sales reps had the tools and information to make a sale from any location.
Additionally, company employees had secure access to online financial information. All of this information was only a few clicks away. The single system made the entire business process flow efficiently, whether from the POS or the warehouse. All of the convenience allowed employees to better serve the customers instead of the process.
The team members at Santa Maria Novella plan to implement LS Nav in their stores in Europe due to being well-pleased with the ArcherPoint solution. Eventually, their goal is to implement LS Nav for each store in every country using the same procedures and databases to streamline operations.
Now is just the beginning of the collaboration process between each store that will make it much easier to manage using the same system.
