In today’s Cloud Wars Minute, I preview Oracle CloudWorld and cover key areas such as keynotes by Larry Ellison and Safra Catz.
Highlights
00:16 — A lot of world-shaping innovations are going to be on display next week at Oracle CloudWorld, and I wanted to share my impressions of five things that attendees can look for. In addition to on-site attendees, there’s also the Oracle TV version for people who can’t get to Las Vegas.
00:38 — Number one are the keynotes from Larry Ellison and Safra Catz. Ellison is the long-time chairman and the chief technology officer. Often Ellison’s keynotes offer great insights into not only what Oracle’s going to do, but eventually what other tech providers will do. Safra Catz, over the last few CloudWorld events, has developed a terrific fireside chat format with leading customers.
01:33 — There will be more than 600 sessions about different types of Oracle technology. And that’s the result of Oracle having such a huge portfolio of products and technologies and services where they play across all layers of the cloud and all layers of AI as well.

02:11 — The third point is about driving business value with AI. Again, Oracle’s been doing AI for 20 to 25 years in various iterations of AI technology. It’s fully into it now in a number of ways, and it’s driving it across all of their different product lines. So, there will be lots of sessions about this and discussions about how AI deployments can quickly show value.
02:45 — The fourth area is what’s going on with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. That is the fastest-growing part of Oracle’s business by far, and it is the fastest-growing major cloud business in the world, growing at over 50%. Customers are choosing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure because of its unique technology and some of the go-to-market models that OCI has.
03:26 — Finally, the fifth idea is that, in addition to the traditional Oracle CloudWorld event, which showcases NetSuite technology, NetSuite will also be part of the CloudWorld event. The juxtaposition of these two gives customers an opportunity to see how the NetSuite products and Oracle products could work together or independently.
