In this News Desk interview, recorded at Celosphere 2022, Tom Smith speaks with Timo Peters, CoE Lead for Process Mining, Bayer, about his approach to developing a center of excellence, Peters’ role, and the impact on buyers of Celonis’ products.
01:15 — Peters joined Bayer at the beginning of September. He leads the Center of Excellence for process mining across Bayer, which applies process mining at the enterprise level. Peters is looking to establish a completely new mode of operating, building, and implementing process mining infrastructure.
01:53 — Peters had a similar role at Nokia. Tom asks Peters what he learned from that experience that he is hoping to carry over to Bayer. From his experience at Nokia, Peters learned of the foundational elements of process mining. He adds that putting standards in place, sticking to them, and being strict will ensure that the process mining journey is much smoother.
03:01 — How is Bayer using Celonis products and what are Bayer’s future goals with Celonis’ technology? Currently, Bayer uses Celonis technology in areas of audit, procurement, and supply chain. The company is looking to expand its use of Celonis products in its finance and sales departments. Celonis products are valuable to the team at Bayer because it allows for an overview of the entire process, which is important in identifying areas of improvement.
04:05 — What are the near-term opportunities for Bayer as it relates to using Celonis technology? Celonis announced how it is looking to create more end-to-end capabilities, which will be an important step for Bayer’s journey. Process Sphere is a recent Celonis product that will enable this.

At Celosphere 2022, he connected with individuals who were curious about adaptation, and how adaptation is going for Celonis. He says he is always interested in sharing as much as possible in public.
