There is a right way and wrong way to approach programming in BC, especially when it’s going to be scalable, functional, and serve your organization for the long term. Using partial records is one way to ensure performance optimization of Business Central and your extensions to meet your requirements now and in the future.

The partial records capability in Business Central allows for loading a subset of normal table fields when accessing a SQL-based data source. Using partial records improves the performance of objects like reports and OData pages – objects whose source code loops through records. It’s particularly beneficial when table extensions are used in the application.
