Welcome to the Cloud Wars Minute — your daily news and commentary show, hosted by Cloud Wars Founder Bob Evans. Each episode provides insights and perspectives around the “reimagination machine” that is the Cloud.
In this Cloud Wars Minute, Bob reports from Oracle CloudWorld. Today, he covers Larry Ellison’s keynote and what might just be Ellison’s biggest battle: a global healthcare system.
Highlights
00:35 — Yesterday, Ellison didn’t use his keynote to position Oracle as superior to its competitors — his eyes are on a bigger target and a bigger rival.
00:57 — Ellison’s biggest battle may very well be to eliminate the lack of global healthcare databases, systems, and solutions.
01:28 — There will be other global pandemics and there’s no way to predict where the next will originate. So, there must be a coalition of partners and stakeholders all across the world.
02:18 — The coalition can’t just be in New York City or Los Angeles. It needs to be able to work in other places around the world, even in locations that aren’t as highly developed.
02:32 — Ellison emphasized that this is an enormous mission that Oracle can’t do alone.
02:58 — It’s not Oracle against the world; it’s about uniting partners for a greater purpose. Oracle is building an open platform so everyone is able to participate. Ellison said that Oracle needs to work openly and equally with partners to achieve this global scale.
