The discussion highlights Celonis’ new Material Emissions App and customer trends related to its sustainability initiatives.
Sustainability Reporting (00:43)
Bauer defines what each of the sustainability scope levels mean. Scope one is those items that companies directly influence when they have all the data and insights. Scope two refers to items an organization purchases but doesn’t produce. Scope three is those items that come from sources an organization doesn’t own or control but that are part of its supply chain. In most companies, that’s 70% to 90% of the carbon footprint. Scope three is challenging to control and measure.
Customer Feedback (01:36)
The Material Emissions App from Celonis touches upon procurement; customers have been saying this is a cumbersome, manual process today. “It takes forever to get your materials in, map that to carbon emission factors, basically marry that data and then have an outcome,” Bauer says. The main benefit to customers is the ability to make that faster and more automated but still keep the accuracy needed to be audited and compliant.
Impact on Shipping/Transport (04:13)
Bauer says that since last year, customers are adopting apps including the Shipping Emissions app. Celonis recognized that transport is an area where economic and sustainability priorities go nicely together. There’s also the supplier sustainability evaluation; Celonis and its partners help companies rate their suppliers and understand how sustainable their spend is. Customers are now able to use the transparency they gained from bringing supplier data in and the procurement data to set target levels for the percent of procurement spend being rated.
Generative AI and Sustainability (06:09)
Celonis aims to use the innovation power of generative AI while ensuring governance and ethical use of AI. The company’s new Process Intelligence Graph is beneficial for sustainability initiatives because it makes can help manage vast amounts of data and create transparency to ensure faster insights and faster results. Getting all the supply chain information faster means people get their questions answered faster and make sustainability decisions efficiently.
