We’re putting together a dual-themed Microsoft Teams meeting for our first GPUG meeting of 2021 on February 18th. The plan is to gather together a few GPUG All Stars to talk to you about GP and Business Central (BC).

When sales tax isn’t applied to a purchase, you could still be on the hook for use tax.

Your business makes a purchase and you notice the seller doesn’t collect sales tax. So, it must be tax free, right? Wrong. Consumer use tax may still apply, and if you’re not actively tracking use tax obligations, you could be making a costly mistake.  

Put simply, use tax is owed on a purchase when the seller does not collect sales tax, or when the use of the product/service (or the location of consumption) results in more tax being owed. Sound complicated? It is, and that’s what makes use tax one of the most mismanaged compliance issues for businesses.

This session will begin by re-introducing select popular elements from within my Intelligent Administrator dashboard, and then include a number of ‘nuts and bolts’ exercises on how to build one from the ground-up.  Tips/techniques for building this Admin-style dashboard will foster greater understating and applicability to your Dynamics GP environment.  The dashboard itself encompasses 150 SQL queries and produces 350 Power BI indicators across 30 subjects in MSSQL, Dynamics, GP Companies, Management Reporter and even ISV products.  Attendees will learn how to leverage Power BI for powerful real-time analysis of configuration selections in each of the modules in Dynamics GP.

Which system do you get data from? Bet it can export it into a CSV or other Excel format. If you have issues getting to your raw data for any reason but can still export it, this session is for you. You will learn how to save exported data from excel files into a different excel file while cleaning it up and combining it with other reports as needed. After we set it up for the first time, you just need to place new reports in the same folder and Excel (Power Query) will automatically update your files!
